If God cursed the serpent for convincing Eve to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in Genesis 3:14 . Why in Matthew 14:16, Jesus told his disciples " be ye therefore wise as serpents.” This is confusing…What do you think?

Well, it's not about being completely like the serpent, but it's more like being like that quality of the serpent. In Genesis 3, the snake happened to be the animal that the devil used, so, the animal got cursed only as a result of it being used by the enemy--but it would have happened to any other animal that the devil would have used....
