I personally don't believe God would do this because of Psalms 37:4, along with the fact that having a wife & kids is a Godly desire that He puts in there (Gen. 1:28)...it's more selfless than people realize--marriage & raising children requires death to self.
But, if He wanted me to go without, I would have to die to myself & do without....might be frustrated at first, but I would get over it.
